AllstarsThe album features the aforementioned singles, a mixture of the incredibly cheesy "Best Friend" to their rather credible makeover of Bucks Fizz's "Land of Make Believe" which, along with the other cover version of Duran Duran's "Is There Something I Should Know", is one of the album's best tracks. The rest of the tracks sound like S Club b-sides, without much variation or originality. There's a decent roll-call of writers including one-woman hit machine Cathy Dennis (fast becoming the UK's answer to Diane Warren) and ex-D:ream star Peter Cunnah, but what's on offer here suffers from lacklustre production and it's all a bit too much like diet-pop.
With the demise of Steps, there is a vacancy in the boy-girl group motel of pop, but the All Stars are going to have to work a little harder to see off the might of those S Clubbers. --Jonathan Weir
